College Admissions Strategies for the Digital Age

Two-thirds of college admissions officers believe applicants’ social media posts are “fair game” for use in determining who gets into their schools. Why? Social media can be used to assess a student's character, credibility, commitment, and creativity. Also, as predictive enrollment management algorithms and analytics are now driving admissions and scholarship decisions, online presence, and online engagement seem destined to be—along with grades, academic rigor, essays, and test scores—a salient part of the college admissions checklist.
